MOVIE REVIEW: BATMAN BEGINS

2005

DIRECTED BY CHRISTOPHER NOLAN

STARRING, CHRISTIAN BALE, KATIE HOLMES, LIAM NEESON, MICHAEL CAINE, GARY OLDMAN, CILLIAN MURPHY, AND MORGAN FREEMAN

RATED PG-13 FOR INTENSE ACTION VIOLENCE, DISTURBING IMAGES AND SOME THEMATIC ELEMENTS.

Today I will review the film "Batman Begins"(2005), the first film in the Batman trilogy directed by Christopher Nolan. It chronicles the origin of Batman.

I found the film realistic and dark, with a large aspect of the film focusing on fear. The violence in the film is intense, with disturbing images and dark, violent action scenes. It surely has resurrected the Batman film series since the corny and horrible "Batman and Robin" (1997). The acting is good, with Michael Caine excellently portraying an at times humorous Alfred. The Plot and the visuals are good, with Nolan toning down the CGI, and so is the music. Hans Zimmer's haunting Batman theme is especially superb. Overall, I found the movie to be a great chance to take Batman back to his dark, gritty roots.
